I apologise if this is not the right section for this (System and this have similar questions).

I've noticed that when I'm playing games e.g. Witcher 3, Mirror's Edge - there is a noticeable buzzing noise coming from my computer. I can only presume it's coil whine from what I've read. I did get the graphics card replaced (GTX 970 strix) but it still happens. I'm concerned whether I actually have enough power in the first place (Seasonic G-Series 650W).

I was at my mates place and he recently built a similar computer only with a radeon r9 390 and 750W Corsair CX power supply. When playing the same games, his is dead silent.

Any thoughts on what the cause could be? It's pushing me away from games since it's ruining the ambience, like people talking in a movie theatre.

The seasonic is a good PSU, so it's not lack of power.

Your PSU might still be the issue, as coil whine does happen even in good PSU's occasionally. I find it hard to believe your GPU is the cause since you've already replaced it once.

If you're at your wits end and would like a recommendation on PSU replacement the EVGA B2 750w is a very good choice for both performance and budget (much better than your friend's CX 750):

I have exactly the same problem.

OP, i have one test for you to do to see if it is in fact coil whine causing the noise.

First turn on v-sync temporarily and see if you still hear it.

Another thing you can try is getting msi afterburner and using rivatuner statistics server to loc your framerate to 60 or lower and see if the noise your hearing increases when your framerate increases

I don't think that is the issue. I can pause during witcher 3 by pressing the start menu, and the sound drastically reduces or disappears. I can't imagine the CPU Cooler being that reactive.
