Not that I own an XBONE,or intend to,ever since I heard of Halo 5 and its ability to downscale the resolution to maintain framerate at 60FPS,I have been wondering if PC games could be programmed to do that? I think it would be cool,I know a lot of PC gaming elitists would probably hate it,as they want the rendering detail to be insanely high and also have high FPS,but not everyone has 980ti's in their system. My PC (which sadly is packed up as I just moved across the USA and am still in a hotel) has a R9 380 and a R9 285 in crossfire. That is still a relatively beefy graphics setup but it still drops down in FPS at times. It would be cool for games to drop their internal rendering resolution to,say 900p (assuming you game at 1080p,like I do,due to me using a 1080p TV) in order to keep FPS high and then bring it back up to 1080p when things settle down, graphically. Is this even possible? I personally would love to see it become common,as I would rather the resolution detail drop slightly, which I probably wont notice in hectic moments where the FPS drops due to how much is going on such as explosions, grass and leaves swaying, etc,. This would be pretty cool to me,especially if it can be done to certain things, such as those explosions and such only, while leaving everything else alone, making little cuts in resolution here and there if needed,to keep FPS up. If this already exists in games or in drivers, forgive my ignorance, but I have never heard of the concept until Halo 5,though I have thought of it before.
