2 HDMI outputs (1 to video, 1 to audio)

Hi,

I've been reading this site for years and it seems I finally have a question I could not find answered in the forums already. I am trying to get audio to my receiver for my speakers but can't figure out how to "divide" the HDMI audio and video.
I've got:

  • ■ Gigabyte Z170XP-SLI motherboard
    ■ GeForce GTX-750 Ti video card
    ■ Eizo EV2455 monitor
    ■ Sharp AN-AR410 receiver (it's a theater rack in Japan w/ HDMI, DTS, etc.)

Both the motherboard and the video card have one HDMI output slot. I do not have a dedicated sound card. I can get audio and video just fine to my monitor over one HDMI cable. However, I would like to get the audio to go to the receiver. I tried using the HDMI output on the motherboard but this is not working. I may be (hopefully) missing something obvious?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Oh wow... I feel dumb. lol. That is how I had it set up last year with my mini-pc, as I was using it for movies on my TV as well. But 6 months ago I got an Amazon FireTV so have that for media now. Then I replaced my mini-pc with a proper desktop last week. I think I was too focused on keeping down the number of cables running from my desk to my receiver!

Thanks for your prompt reply though! I will do that ... unless there is a way to have video output from the GPU and audio output from the motherboard HDMI?

I also looked at some HDMI splitters last years and tried two. Neither worked well. One reason I would really like a Marantz SR7009. :)

Cheers!

Thanks. That stands to reason. I just found that I can disable the GPU audio in the NVIDIA control panel (or bios) (such as here).

I've tried plugging in RCA's to the back panel of the mobo and into the receiver. My pc recognizes I've plugged in the cables but I'm getting no sound through the speakers...

I picked this as the solution to my initial question - as that would be the way to go about it. Even though my actual solution to getting sound to my receiver was found in a different question. Namely, using RCA cables rather than HDMI.
