My Computer doesn't recognize my new SSD, but Device Manager does. I went into Disk Management and got a message saying I needed to initialize (apparently this) drive. IIs that the same as formatting? I wasn't sure so I did neither. Also, it gave me a choice of MBR or GBT. If I understand correctly, MBR would make this my boot drive - which is NOT what I want. But the message box also said GBT is for >2TB, which this is not.

Do I need to format the new drive? Is initializing the same thing/ If initializing isn't the same as formatting (and assuming that's what I need to do) and formatting wasn't given as an option, what do I do? Or can I use the initialize option, and if so, which protocol? I'm guessing GBT since this isn't my boot drive.

Thanks
