Can't decide between cheaper alternatives or the Core i5 4690K.

Hello.
I am building my first Personal Gaming PC and have a budget of $900.
I wanted to know what impact on Gaming Performance and Video Rendering would switching to a cheaper alternative to the i5 4690K or sticking with this processor would have. I still want a fast enough Quad-Core CPU without overclocking because I will be looking to splurge on a CPU cooler in the near future but not right now. I am going to be pairing it with a MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition motherboard, Hyper Fury X 16GB RAM 1866MHz with XMP profile enabled (2 x 8GB) and a Radeon R9 280X or a R9 290. I think a cheaper alternative is the i5 4670K since I can get it for $50 cheaper in my country. I live in a tropical climate where temps go up to 48C in summers but hopefully with an air conditioner that won't be an issue, right? I want to go particularly big on the graphics card, peripherals and aesthetics.Unfortunately, this processor is sucking up 30% of my budget.
Thank you.

Hello ZRman15,

The performance drop between the 4690k and 4670k is very small. For $50 it certainly isn't worth getting the 4690, use that money towards another part of your build.
The Krait is not a good performer. MSI takes the top 3 spots in the gaming tests below but also takes the 11th and 12th spots with gaming performance just 71% of the leaders. Won't matter much what the CPU impact is between those under discussion as the big hit will be taken here. I'd move to a Gaming 5 from either MSI or Gigabyte

MSI Z97 Gaming 9 - 100.00%
MSI Z97 Gaming 5 - 99.86%
MSI Z97A Gaming 6 - 98.96%
Asus Z97 TUF Sabranco - 96.13%
Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5 - 95.00%
Gigabyte Z97X SOC Force - 94.95%
Asus Z97 Maximus VII Hero - 93.67%
Asus Z97 Maximus VII Formula - 93.58%
Asus Z97 Maximus VII Gene - 91.69%
Asus Z97-A - 89.57%
MSI Z97 Mpower MAX AC - 88.20%
MSI Z97S Krait SLI - 71.01%

Aslo, if you're considering the cost savings from the older generation CPU, you might as well consider a Z87 board which will save you even more. While there's no real difference in gaming between any of these discussed, your video rendering activities would favor an I7
