Computer doesn't recognize GPU

I have a Asus Z97 Pro Motherboard and a SAPPHIRE Radeon R9 290X GPU. I have the GPU plugged into the PCIEX16 slot and the fans are running when I turn the computer on. However, I can not install the drivers and my computer is using the processor instead of my GPU. When I try to install the drivers the program says they were installed successfully, however I cannot find the AMD catalyst control center program on my computer and when I use the autodetect program it says my graphics hardware is an Intel HD Graphics 4600 and there is no detected AMD hardware in my computer. How do I get my computer to start using the graphics card instead of the processor?

Solution
If the card is installed and you're able to get signal from the motherboard, then either the card is not powered (check the PCIe power cables if connected to the card), or BIOS set to iGPU only.
