The graphics card is an asus eah6450 silent 1gb and the computer is prebuilt and has a hp bios. It worked fine until installation. I have already tried going into sound settings and it only shows the hdmi for the graphics card and not my onboard device. I looked in the bios at the onboard section but didn't see any on/off and also didn't see an audio device listed.

Solution
Turns out my original hunch was correct and it was a problem with the BIOS, it was just listed in a different section and I didn't find it because I was unfamiliar with it.

I tried with the gpu, but I'm not sure how I would get my audio device's because I can't really identify it. I noticed the sound worked again when I removed the gpu, if that helps.
