I am torn between doing a powerful AMD DDR3 RAM build, or a Intel DDR4 RAM build. Is DDR4 the way to go from now on? Or is it a good idea to save some money by doing a AMD DDR3 build?

The things I would use my PC for is mainly triple AAA titles and I game at 1080p. I also 3D model and animate on 3Ds Max and Blender.

Here is the pc part my questions above for the DDR3 AMD build. I am open to different part suggestions as long as I can get advice to on my question above.

Get a haswell or skylake core i5 with ddr3 or ddr4 whichever you can find a better deal on. Or even an i7 if u wanna spend a bit more. Or even an x99 board and a i7-5820k. Ddr3 vs ddr4 has basically no percievable performance difference so dont get hung up on that. I cannot endorse buying an AMD setup in good conscience for that amount of money, not that AMD is bad....spend any extra money on a decent monitor. You dont need two $350 gpus to game at 1080p

First off there is no such thing as a powerful AMD build. There is Power Consuming AMD Build, but not a powerful AMD build.

I would say Intel. I mean when start looking at DX12 benchmarks and you see Dual Core Intel i3s beating out AMD Eight Core 8370s in Ashes of the Singularity (an AMD title) you gotta ask yourself why do you want an AMD CPU?

Also when you look at the legacy article of 'how much CPU do you need' you can find Core I3s regularly beating out AMDs offerings with high end graphic cards.

DDR4 is the go forward technology and it is cheap now. I say go for SkyLake

But isnt that AMD processors specs pretty high? How can 4.7 GHz 8 core processor not be powerful?

I dont like SSDs. I know they are way faster but their capacities are way too shallow for my taste. Thats just me though. Its my preference.

My best advice for someone like you whos kind of new to the game is to not jump on the first flashy looking thing that you see. Clock speed on a cpu doesnt neccessarily determine how fast it is. There are many other factors involved. AMDs most current platform (AM3+) is quite old at this point. Their processors are power hungry and quite inefficient these days. Heres a great tool for someone in your positionhttp://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU/39. And I cannot stress this point enough as well: please seriously reconsider your stance on SSDs. They are truly a life changing experience when it comes to every day PC use. You need to just use a pc with an SSD to truly understand. You would honestly be insane to build a computer that expensive without having one

If you cant judge a CPU by how fast it is by how many GHz it has then what do you use to gague its strength by?

straight up benchmarks that you can find all over the internet.
