I'm bot sure if this is the correct catagory for this if not please direct me to an appropriate one. I was thinking about purchasing this mobo/cpu/ram bundle
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1670091
Is this a good deal and quality parts? It will be used for web browsing, lite video editing, lite programing, word processing, and a lot of virtualization in vbox. Iam also going to puchase a case and psu(I have a graphics) but am unsure if this mobo will fit in sone cases. Will this board fit in a mid tower case or needs a full? Also what's the diffrence between the two? Is a full size like one you purchase from dell or hp? I'm unsure of what case yet but I would like to keep it under a $100. A little over is okay. Id like it to have at least one usb 3.0 port on it but needs at least 3 ports(2.0 is fine.)It also must have at least two 5.25" bays. Preferably from newegg

I guess it depends on the location and situation. Usually if there's no tax on the items bought online and no shipping (shipping obviously built into the price, no such thing as 'free') it can be cheaper. I went to the link and added it to my cart, no shipping or tax. To buy $330 worth of merchandise in my town would cost me an additional $18-20 in tax not to mention my time and fuel to drive there. Instead of $335 if those exact parts were available locally it would cost $355. Not to mention local prices are usually higher, again may depend on the area.

There's also nothing wrong with g.skill brand ram at all. They're one of the leading brands of ram and often used in performance builds. As with any brand it will depend on the...

Hey bzand,
First off, the motherboard and CPU are good quality parts. However, some companies are better for the RAM; they might be a bit more expensive but they are worth it at the end. Also, this board only fits in larger cases, the ATX size. Therefore, it won't fit in a mid-ATX tower. As for the sizes, it's not about the companies. Almost every company produces all sizes, you just need to find the right one. Finally, if I can suggest you something, try buying your parts individually at a local retail store. You'd be surprised at the money you'll save without paying shipping. Finally, it gives you the liberty to choose your own parts and what you need.

Hope it helps,
Jedi

There's also nothing wrong with g.skill brand ram at all. They're one of the leading brands of ram and often used in performance builds. As with any brand it will depend on the specific set. You'll find most companies offer a variety of sets of ddr3 for instance even if they're the same essential 2x4gb (8gb) 'kit'. Some will be ddr3 1600, others will be varying speeds obviously like ddr3 1866. Then you have varying cas latencies, you might find that corsair has 2 or 3 sets of ddr3 1600 or g.skill has various sets of ddr3 1600. Some with a cas latency of 8, 9, 10. The lower the latency the better (typically). Simply saying one brand or another is better depends on the details, I wouldn't agree that a pny or corsair set of ram is 'better' than g.skill's set at the exact same speed with lower/tighter timings.

It depends on the case you're using, the difference between mid and full towers isn't matx or full atx motherboard size. Both will/can fit both. A full tower case is a larger case typically with more 5.25" bays (3-4 or more). It's taller than a mid tower which may have 1 or 2 5.25" bays. A micro atx case will typically only fit a matx (micro atx) board. A full tower case usually supports micro atx, full atx and eatx (extended atx) which is larger than full or regular atx. A good majority of cases used with atx (full atx) boards are "mid tower".

Here's a case size comparison (note that cases can deviate, either larger or smaller and it's not a specific size. Two cases can both be 'full tower' while one is bigger than the other.)

Here are a few examples of mid towers with at least 2 5.25" external bays that will work. All under $100.

Just a handful, there are a lot to choose from. Some of those have been award winning cases, most are dust filtered, have windows, usb3.0 up front etc. Newegg doesn't have the best prices on a lot of them, might be worth waiting for black fri or cyber monday to see what deals spring up. Obviously they're going to save their best sales for then most of the time and it's right around the corner.
