So i'm easily a novice when it comes to PC's and even less knowledgeable about networks. I'm learning but this particular issue needs an answer quicker than I can research.

Onto the issue, I have 2 desktops hard wired to my home network; 1 for gaming/general use and 1 for business/work. From my understanding of VPN's they will allow me to essentially hide or spoof my IP address, something I'd really like to do with the business PC. Although I haven't actually tried using one yet.

My question is, if I used a VPN on the business PC would it also effect the IP of the gaming PC? Or would it effect the IP of the network as a whole regardless of which PC is actually running the software?

I plan to use Cyber Ghost's free service to start and upgrading to the paid service in the future, if any of you have experience with Cyber Ghost please let me know what you thought.

I look forward to hearing your responses. Thanks.

running a VPN on 1 PC won't effect the other PC. Most VPN services though, at least when you pay a few bucks a month, allow more than 1 connection so you could run it on both of them if you wanted. A VPN for gaming doesn't hurt either. Some little script kiddie gets butt-hurt because you blasted him too many times, figures out your IP through chat or teamspeak or the game if they have admin rights, and then DDOS's you for a while.

I use private internet access. It lets me get the full speed of my internet and I can run 5 PC's/phone/whatever at once with the account. Paying yearly, comes outs to $3.33 a month. I tried a bunch of VPN's and I have 100mb/s internet speed and the other 4 or 5 VPN's I tried would limit me to 30mb/s...

Some have trial accounts, try some of those to get a feel for how it works for you.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I read a review of Private Internet Access and they seem to be held in pretty high regard. Multiple devices for 1 price is definitely an attractive offer.

Thanks again for your help and answering all of my questions.
