Well you didn't provide links to either of the parts, so it's kind of hard to be certain, but if the msi board has a pci-e x16 slot (which I'm pretty sure the msi 970 has) you'll be fine.

I checked their compatibility in pcpartpicker.com and you should be just fine. The mobo has 2 PCI-E x16 slots, so you're just fine with those parts.
