Hi guys. I am in the process of selling my fx 8320+gtx 760+msi 990fxa mobo for $400 CAD which allows me to put those funds and some more towards a new Intel route of a cpu-gpu-mobo combo.

I am here seeking some help in terms of which cpu-mobo-gpu combination would satisfy my needs coming from the components that I am selling which I mentioned above. With your recommendations I hope to put myself in a good situation future proofing my rig.

Theoretically speaking, I had this in mind:

-i7 4790k + MSI Gaming 970/R9 290 of sorts, + a fairly cheaper motherboard
OR
-i5 4690k + MSI Gaming 970 + a little more of a pricey mobo, perhaps one of the z97-A boards.

Obviously I am open to other recommendations as you guys clearly know more than I do. I just want something that was quite the step up from my last rig. Let me say that I currently play more cpu intense games, but that doesn't mean that I don't occasionally like playing some gpu bound ones.

My current parts that I will keep and use:

-windows 10 64b
-GX Coolermaster 650w
-8gb Ripjaws
-SSD Samsung Evo 250gb
-A NEW Hyper 212 EVO Cooler if its compatible

I am looking forward to you guys ideas as I am very stoked to build this new system. Once again I am open to anything INTEL that stays under $900 CAD. Thanks a bunch ahead of time!

Is my gx coolermaster 650 suffice for the new cpu and 390? Also, given that i mainly play arpg's and online games, does that effect whether i choose the 970 or 390? And is the 390 more future proof due to the higher vram?

Thanks
