Planning to build a gaming rig and stumbled across 2 final choices on amazon:

MSI GTX 960 Gaming 4GB ($232)
EVGA GTX 960 FTW+ Gaming 4GB 2.0+ ($230)

I realize that the FTW+ has a + and the only difference between it and a normal FTW is the included backplate. So first question: Does a backplate make a difference?

Secondly, I the EVGA card has about 100mhz higher clocks at both normal and boost clock. Does this make a considerable difference in performance?
ALSO, does this higher clock damage the card faster, killing the EVGA faster than the MSI?

Finally, how do the MSI heat pipes + fans (twin frozer) compare with the EVGA ACX 2.0? I'm not worried about sound too much, but what about quality. performance, longevity, etc?

Solution
i enjoy having a back-plate on my gpus. it prefects me from grabbing the breadboard of the card, or damaging it. it also looks nice. 100 mhz will make a difference in the preference of the card by a few fps. it shouldn't kill the card any quicker and they should both last till they are obsolete and you don't want to run them anymore. you can overclock the msi one if you want pretty easily though.

Not planning to overclock really. In that case, the backplated EVGA is the best choice right?

yup it will probably be the best one
