Driver issue or is my GPU kaputt?

Howdy, little bit stumped here.

I have a gtx 560 Ti. It has been running happy and healthy since 2012 and I've had no problems in the three months since updating to windows 10.

Two days ago, having not made any changes to my system, the drivers started crashing while watching youtube. I received messages saying something like "Nvidia windows kernel mode driver stopped responding and was recovered". the driver kept crashing until the screen went black and I was forced to restart. same thing happened again after the restart.

I tried updating my drivers but after that they don't appear to be working at all. from that point onward whenever I boot up the computer I only get the default windows drivers despite the nvidia drivers being installed

I tried uninstalling them, running driver sweeper then installing the drivers. after that didn't work for several version of the drivers I tried reset windows 10 (keep my files). Same thing after the reset, nvidia drivers don't seem to want to run.

The driver installation seems to recognizes that there is an nvidia card installed. The card is still outputting video and the fans are still spinning which is why I'm leaning towards driver issue. But after fighting with it I'm not sure if I should be completely wiping my computer or shopping for a new card?
