I just overclocked my CPU to 4.2ghz and was doing some stress test. And I'm hearing this high pitch noise from the CPU / Fan / Motherboard area during stress testing.

Is this normal? This is my first time stress testing.

Here are my PC specs:
CPU: AMD FX 6300
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GTX 750ti
PSU: EVGA 600b 80+ Bronze 600w
Motherboard: MSI 970A-G43
RAM: 8GB

This is my first time overclocking and I followed this guide:

I'm getting 40-50 CPU Temp while stress testing I assume this is good right? What bothers me is the high pitch noise from the CPU / Fan / Motherboard Area. Is this supposed to be normal?

You hope is the fan, which is relatively easy to fix, but if this never happened before you OC'it, I'd suspect the VRMs which there is nothing u can do except to replace the Mobo.

U can test this while it's whining and press the VRM down, one by one, with a chopstick and note the change, if they are accessible.

Just reverted back to non-overclocked and the noise is gone. Except when I really put my ears on the vent I could still hear it very slightly.

Should I revert back to overclocking?
