I have an older HDD with another card's gpu drivers on it, can I still boot with my new GPU in?

Just wondering, I don't want to have to unplug the current gpu if I don't have to, but I need to get in and remove those drivers before properly updating the current card.

What are you trying to achieve with this older HDD, exactly?

Yeah, it will install the necessary drivers to function when you first plug in the HDD and boot, it should work well enough for you to remove the other card's drivers.

My current one is a few days old and got a blue screen relating to failing HDD's, so i want to go back to my old one until I the replacement.

This sounds as simple as a graphics card upgrade, yes you can. Simply uninstall the old drivers when you've booted into windows, restart, then Install the new drivers after, restart.
