having the classic "internet running slow on one computer" debacle only none of the solutions i've found on this site have worked. even in safe mode the internet is slow. i have no idea what the hell happened. basically, we went over our 200gb cap so we upgraded to unlimited downloads. once the new plan came in our speed went back up to 30Mbit, but it only went up to 8Mbit on my computer. i'm using Ethernet over power, but when i connect with my wireless dongle it's the same, and i don't have a cable long enough to reach my room on it's own to test that way, even though i highly doubt it'll make a difference if wireless is slow too. both other computers on the network get the full 30Mbit connection (one is connected via Ethernet, one connected via Wifi). i did recently delete AVG anti virus and was running without it for a few weeks, so i reinstalled windows and AVG and that made no difference.

well that doesn't feel satisfying at all... i found a random mismatch Ethernet over power adapter in the loungeroom. i replaced the one in my room with that one, problem solved... my LAN speed was 10Mbit with the old adapter, it changed to 100Mbit on it's own with the new adapter. i have no idea why so the actual problem is still a giant question mark but i'm back to running 30Mbit on my pc's connection so i'm happy as all hell
