Hi everyone,

This has only recently happened - suddenly I only have 3.96 of usable RAM out of 8 GBs. I've never had this problem before and it has always worked perfectly; I'm not sure why it's changed.

I've reseated the RAM and even the CPU to no avail, Max Memory is not checked, and I have a 64 bit system. It definitely recognizes that I have 8 gigs, I've checked on system, CPU Z, and the Nvidia

My specs are as follows:

CPU - AMD FX(tm)-4300 Quad-Core

GPU- Nvidia Geforce GTX 960.

RAM- 8 GB (3.96 GB usable)

OS - Windows 10 Pro

System type - x64 bit

MOBO - Asrock 970 Pro3 R2.0

Thanks in advance,
W. :)

Update:

I reseated the ram twice more, and it went back to normal! I have no idea what the problem was, or what caused it, but it's working perfectly again.

Thanks everyone for your help! :)

OK what you should do is Start>control panel>system and security>system>advanced system settings> Click the advanced tab, Now click settings under performance, go to the advanced tab, Click change the virtual memory, then check the first box that says "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" Save and exit. Restart your computer and see if you have your 8G

I thought about that, but when I look at the bios update tab on the Asrock site, the model of my mobo isn't listed; so I have no idea how to update it.

Yeah, I'd already checked a few times, it's unchecked though.
Thanks for the help though.
