Hello, i'm looking to get a new gpu to go with my rig, any suggestions?
I was thinking about plonking a 970 by strix in there, would that be any good?

Here is the build using part picker without the gpu: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/M32TK8

I'll surely be giving a best answer to the fellow that helps me out here! ;)

The r9 390 costs around 500 bucks where i live, would it be worth it?

Hello,

The GTX 970 and the R9 390 are both similar cards in terms of performance, although the R9 390 tends to perform slightly better (only by a few frames per second) than the GTX 970, which you can see if you search for "GTX970 and R9 390 benchmarks" on YouTube.

If the 390 is waaaay more expensive than the 970, then it is not worth it, as they are very similar.

But if they are a similar price, I would go for the 390.

Hope this helped

Thank you for the help, really gave me some insight.
However, would the EVGA GEFORCE GTX 980 SUPERCLOCKED ACX 2.0 improve the frames by alot?
I know it waaaaaaaaaay more expensive but it might just be alot better?

Oh yes, the GTX 980 far outperforms any of the previously mentioned GPUs. If you can afford the 980 then definitely go for it :)

Nope.
GTX 970 can handle anything at 1080p without breaking a sweat

As said by Mxhawthy,if you can afford it,it won't dissappoint.
But still,gtx 970 is plenty for 1080p. :)
