I got a good deal on a wireless network card, but it is PCIe x1. I have two (2) PCIe x16. One has my Graphics, so wanted to use the other. Will the graphics card continue to perform normally if I use the x1 card in the other slot? I read somewhere about lanes and such and did not fully understand. TIA

Solution
I have the same setup: H97 (GA-H97M-D3H) board + wireless x1 (on x4/16 pcie) and a 7850 on a full x16 slot. Works just fine. This extra slot bandwith is provided by the mb chipset if i`m not wrong. The vga slot (16 lanes) is conected directly to the cpu.

Solution
Yes, it will work fine and your graphics card will not be affected at all. Technically you're actually better off than if you had a higher-end board with SLI capability, because your board won't divide the 16 PCIe 3.0 lanes (intended for graphics cards) to the two populated slots. Instead, the second slot gets a PCIe 2.0 x4 connection from the chipset, while the graphics card keeps the PCIe 3.0 x16 connection straight from the CPU.
