External power supply with 8-pin connector

Hello,

I'm looking for an external power supply with a PCI-E 8-pin connector. The built-in power supply from HP doesn't offer such a connector. Unfortunately my "friend" Google wasn't a big help. Did anyone ever see such a device in the wild?

Silly me! I need to install a Nvidia GTX970 card into an HP computer. But I would prefer an additional external power supply/adapter (just like a laptop power supply but with an 8-pin connector) for the graphic card.

I have your same problem. I was looking at SATA power to 8pin but i have read bad things can happen.

There are adapters to run 8pin off of 2 6 pins, but I would guess HP doesn't have that either. Find out if aftermarket PSUs fit that. In Dells they usually work OK.
