Hi,
I'm upgrading a PC, and specifically the CGU, with a GeForce GTX 960 WindForce 4 Go DDR5 which requires a 2x6pin power supply.
My PSU is an Akasa Venom 550w, which has 2x8pin connectors to do so.
My problem is I seem to have lost one of the cables that was in the PSU box, and I'm at a loss to find another 8-pin to 6-pin (or 6+2) cable.
I have a feeling I might have to buy a new PSU.
Does anybody know how I could get my hands on a similar cable? All I see is connectors on the PSU side with 6 pins!!

not understanding why it wouldnt work?
as blackbird says you need one made for that psu which will be hard work as its a defunct model.

all im talking about is an adapter like this which should work fine plugged into your psu molex cable
http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Pin-Molex-to-6-Pin-PCI-Express-PCIE-Video-Card-Power-Converter-Adapter-Cable-/111759091235?hash=item1a055c6623:g:SrAAAOxy0bRTENOF

or there are twin 6 pin splitters to run off a 6+2 pin

although looking at your card it needs a 8+6 pin which for a 960 in just frankly ridicolous - that gives it a theoretical power of 300w which is more than twice what it can actually pull from the psu - these cards are hardlocked power limit wise - that just looks a bit of marketing crap to me in all honesty.

Thank you all for your help, but I think I wasn't clear with my issue and configuration.

So, this is what I have on the PSU side (2 8-pin PCIE connectors):

And this is what I have on the GPU side (2 6-pin connector):

My problem is I only have one cable to connect these 2 together (the other one, which I am sure was in the PSU box when I bought it 3 years ago, is most probalby lost).

Anyway, I'm starting to consider investing into a new, good quality PSU : any advice on that? (core I7-4790k, 1 SSD, 1 HD, 3 fans, a watercooling system, Asus H97-plus MB, and, so, a GeForce GTX 960 WindForce 4 Go DDR5 GPU : I'm pretty sure I can do with 550watts).

Thanks again

Anything by xfx or seasonic , or antec hcg range - from seasonic or the antecs the 520w models are enough.
Any of the xfx 550w models is also plenty.

With any of those options you don't go wrong.

You never mentioned country ??

I did understand shat you meant - you only gave a sole 6+2 PCI express cable to use??

A molex to 6 pin or a 6+2 to 2x6 pin splitterxshould work fine - that PSU is single rail - there should be no problem using an adapter.
Its an old model though, was mediocre when new & it is maybe time to replace it anyway.
