I'm getting blue screen of the death and some programs crasches after changing memory frequency.
This my PC configuration:
Product Name: GA-Z97X-Gaming 7 (1.0)
BIOS Ver: F6
Model: Intel Core i7 4790K
Operation System: Win 7 64-bit SP 1
Memory Size: 2x 8Gb
Power Supply: 860W
Memory Part No.: Crucial Ballistix BLT2CP8G3D1608DT1TX0CEU
Memory specifications:
16GB kit (8GBx2) DDR3 PC3-12800 • 8-8-8-24 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 • 1.5V • 1024Meg x 64 •
By default my bios set memory to 1333 when it is a DDR3 memory with 1600Mhz.
On my BIOS I have changed the memory frequency from 1333 to 1600, and after reboot there was a problem and bios doesn’t change anything. I tried again setting frequency to 1600, and CPU frequency has changed to 4.39GHz. After that, I changed again the memory frequency to 1333 and CPU frequency continued with 4.39GHz.
I tried to reset the BIOS, to load the optimized default settings, and using Easy Tuner program, but it is impossible to change.
After doing that I get a blue screen of the death one time every day. I didn’t see what the problem was because the computer reboots very quickly.
Now, I have changed my bios configuration to optimized system default, and now I don’t see BSOD but some programs like Firefox, Internet Explorer or Microsoft Word crashes randomly.
Is there a problem with my memory? What is it happening?
