Random black screen and FPS problems with GTX970

So I've been getting random black screens where my monitor says ''no signal'' and it either stays that way, or everything goes back to normal and a message comes on the bottom of my screen saying that my graphics driver crashed (already tried deleting and reinstalling graphic drivers) or my pc siply restarts. Another thing I noticed is that in GTA 5 the FPS is really unstable and varies between around 39 - 60 fps (I'm kind of a noob here so I dont know if thats completely normal or what, but on most videos I've seen on YT the fps was pretty stable at 60). Any help would be very appreciated.

Full specs:
CPU: AMD A10-Series APU A10-7850K
Motherboard: MSI A88X-G45 GAMING
Memory: AMD 16GB 240-Pin DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) CL10 1.65V
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Overclocked GDDR5
PSU: Corsair RM Series 1000 Watt ATX/EPS 80PLUS Gold-Certified Power Supply

I get the same thing with random black screens and the "no signal" problem but I am using an AMD Radeon R9 390. It's a really annoying problem as there is no error or anything, you just have to sort of figure it out!

I hope we find out soon what our problem is.

Hopefully we do. I read a forum that someone said it was caused due to not enough PSU power, but my PSU is 1000 watts, so that can't be the problem for me. But could that possibly be the problem for you?

With that processor, you might be experiencing a bottle neck. Download HW Monitor and GPUz and have them open during your next gaming session with GTA5. If your processor is peaking at 100% (HW Monitor), and your GPU utilization isn't (GPUz), then you're experiencing a bottleneck. If it is, then you can overclock your CPU a little bit, and it'll help. Also, turn AA on...at least 2x, and that'll help as well. When you run no AA, it puts more pressure on the CPU...and it can cause a bottleneck.

Not saying that this is what's happening, but...it'd be the first thing I'd check, and get marked off the list of possibilities.

As for the black screens.....not sure what to tell you there.

I ran msi afterburner ( I assume it would be the same as running HWMonitor and GPUz) and got this http://prntscr.com/93m6mc I assume thats normal? I really dont know. AA is at 2x already, and I still go down to to the low 40s :(

Yeah, that's a CPU bottleneck. The CPU is running at 99% and the GPU at less than 70%. Try it with 4 x AA. Put more pressure on the GPU, and take it off the CPU. It might help.

So I figured out that the black screens was caused by a faulty power cable. I switched it and I haven't gotten black screens ever since. As for the FPS problem I learned that its because of a CPU bottleneck. Props to "Vellinious" for helping me figure out that it was a CPU bottleneck.
