I have a dell xps 8300 running pci x16, A06 bios, and currently a nvidia 750 TI gpu. The chipset is h67. are there any better graphics cards that I can use. I found out there were, but I am really not sure on the specifics. I would prefer a 900 series gpu but anything better than the 750 ti, that is worth it, is fine. The main problem I have, is the dell xps case, since the motherboard supposedly doesn't fit in any other cases. Please help me out!

Try the GTX 970, but make sure the VGA clearance is enough. I think your power supply can handle it.

Confirmed by research: The XPS 8300 will works with the EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Superclocked ACX 2.0 graphics card. So any GTX 970 of this size is going to fit (Like 260mm?). It works with the stock 460W power supply.

I forgot to tell you guys, but I can upgrade my psu. Also can you guys give me specific models so I can know if it fits. my current gpu is 21.8 x 11.5 x3.9 Centimeter long.

I do not remember how much space was left in my case but that is a rough example. also, how do I check my vga clearance.

I was looking at the exact same thread you were just now. I have searched quite a bit on the forums and I have seen that dell xps 8300 bios's range from bios A01 to A06 like mine. That thread does not specify which bios it is.

So what do you want us to help you with?

It's already likely that your current BIOS is going to work with your system. Since the GTX 750 Ti already DOES work, it PROVES that the BIOS works with a discrete graphics card. What else does it need to be and why are you trying to be so naive? Honestly.

It's not possible that we can provide even more information than we did I think. If even this type of information is not enough, perhaps even thinking of trying anything to upgrade your system is not a good idea.

The XPS 8300 has been verified to be able to be upgraded. That should be enough information at this point. We don't know the version of your BIOS. We don't know which BIOS version 100% works with ANY discrete GPU. Can't help anymore.

you guys are telling me to just buy it. I read a bunch of threads and some people with dell xps's (8700's) had their computers BRICKED after the gtx 970 didn't work. You guys are asking me to gamble this much money? It may just be a random matter for you guys but if I am wrong my whole PC gets bricked.

You can always return it.

Put it in your system, see if it works without updating the BIOS, return it if it doesn't work. Life isn't always that hard. There is no chance of your system bricking because you put a different GPU in your system.

If you don't want to update your BIOS (I have done it hundred of times without issues), then you don't have to take the risk even.

You are asking for help, then you are saying that you don't want to do what is necessary to make the upgrade of the GPU possible. Try to be more thankful of the help you are receiving.
