Hi,

I ran the crucial scan and the result is kind of confusing. I have 4 GB RAM on my Sony vaio laptop.

The scan results show
Maximum memory: 16384MB
Slots:2 (2 banks of 1)
*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.
2GB 2GB

What does this actually mean? Can the RAM be upgraded or a total of 16 GB (8+8)?
If yes, why does it say not to exceed manufactured supported memory.
If not, why does it say maximum memory as 16384 MB?

Thank you

According to Sony, max memory is 8Gb. According to CNET, max memory size is 8Gb. By Sony, I'd believe you would be restricted to 2x4Gb sticks, but the way it reads from CNET as max supported size you'd think that's 8Gb per slot so 2x8Gb or 16Gb total. Gotta love the vagueness of some websites.
