I have an older HTPC that I am trying to get into working condition. I have:

-ASUS M2N68-AM PLUS MB Current 1804 bios
-Phenom II X4 840
-4 gig DDR2-800 memory
-1.5TB WD SATA HDD
-Lite On HES208 Bluray drive
-HIS 5450 PCI-e video
-Win7 SP1 x64

I have spent quite a few hours on a few occasions trying to understand why the SATA blu-ray drive will not show up at POST or in the OS. I have read other threads regarding issues others have had with flakey AHCI and SSD's, but didn't think it would be a problem for an optical drive. Has anyone with this mb and sata optical drives managed to get theirs working reliably? When I first built this setup, the optical drive would show up intermittently, but I haven't seen it come up on this system in a few years. I have taken the SATA cable and drive to another system (different MB) and both work fine so I know it isn't either of those at issue. I have tried a few different dvd sata drives, older models, no luck with them either.

Most appreciated if anyone could chime in with advice that is relevant to this MB and SATA optical drives.

Thanks!

Thank you for responding.
Bios is extremely limited, basically you can turn on/off IDE ports, and turn on/off SATA ports. I've moved the optical drive in front of the HDD, behind it, and tried all ports. The HDD shows up ok on all four ports. Tried two other optical SATA dvd drives with the same result, but I installed the OS with the blu ray drive when I set up the system so it was working at one point. Just seems really odd that it would stop working like this.

Anybody got an IDE bluray drive for sale cheap? :)
