Hey guys, so I have a custom computer build. Here are my specs:
GPU: EVGA GTX 760 2GB SC ACX
CPU: AMD FX-4350 4.2 GHZ QUAD-CORE
RAM: Corsair Vengance 16Gb 8x2 ( I think 1866 Mhz)
Motherboard:AsRock 990Fx Extreme 9
Psu: Corsair 600 watt (looking to upgrade to 850)
Hard Drives: 1x SSD 256 GB
1x HDD 1TB

So heres the thing, my CPU performs very weak on most games. I really want to upgrade. Now the issue is, I already have a great and expensive motherboard so switching it out. I dont know. But I also need great performance in games, such as Arma 3 life, need a hell of a Cpu for that. And Intel definitely performs better but if there is an AMD card that performs as good as an Intel it would be great. I was gonna upgrade to a 9590 but thats to expensive for what you get. Im left with an 8350 or switch out MoBo and get i5 4690k. Please help me decide. Feel free to ask questions Have a great day :D

Solution
It depends on your budget. You do have a good motherboard and would pair well with an 8350 and that would probably be the cheapest option. If you want better performance in cpu intensive games like arma3 then the intel might be a better option. It's not that the 8350 can't handle games or can't handle arma3 but the intel cpu's will give higher fps and better framerates which equate to smoother gameplay, even when they're not overclocked.

If you want to go with intel you have a few options. Considering haswell/devil's canyon to keep costs a bit lower since you already have 16gb of ddr3, if you really want to overclock you can go with a z series motherboard and k series cpu. You could go with an h97 board and a xeon 1231v3 if you do a fair amount of video editing or are concerned about having only 4 threads. If you're trying to keep to a tighter budget you can go with an h97 and a locked i5 like the 4590 and still get better gaming than the 8350.

synphul, Thank You very much for the great and detailed response. Would you know the FPS difference between the 8350 and the i5's? Because for me, its either getting an i5 4***K or an 8350. All I want is the best performance for my games and the fastest performance with a budget :D. Another thing I learned is that Arma 3 uses 2 cores. So the AMD's have much weaker single core power so Arma 3 would overload 2 of the 8 cores it has. This is a very difficult decision. Thank's for the help :D. Because if the i5's and the 8350 perform not that much different I will definitely go with the 8350 and OverClock it to 4.4~4.5 GHZ. Thanks Again, Have a Great Day :D.
