I am going to be doing a clean install of windows 7 on a new ssd and needed to know how i should go about installing my motherboard drivers. I have the disk for it but I don't know if I am suppose to do that before the install of windows or after, or if I even have to download a motherboard driver. Any and all help would be great.

Typically, what I do is download the motherboard LAN driver to a USB drive. Then install Windows onto the new system. Install the previously downloaded LAN driver and then use the system's Internet access to download all the other necessary drivers.

If you know all your info on the hardware on the PC setup its always good practice to have at least the latest drivers for all the devices before you decide to wipe the PC, this will make it a lot easier to install windows and then go quickly through motherboard and other hardware devices with the either on usb or burned on a cd getting them running, even if they are not the latest drivers when you do the backup at least you can get running and not find yourself unable to get onto the net because you didnt have a network card driver handy..

^ all good advice. The NIC driver is the key to making you fresh install a success. Get the latest driver before you start the fresh install(usb is easiest). After OS install get the NIC working and go to the manufacturer web site and download the latest stable drivers for the rest of your hardware.
