Hi guys,

Basically I have made up my mind already, I want to upgrade my GPU (listed in the title), and I want to get a 980Ti- I'm still deciding between Asus Strix and MSI Gaming.
I will be purchasing it just before Christmas holiday period, but today I spoke to my friend and he tells me, he heard there are new GPU's coming out from Nvidia around Dec/Jan.
I can't seem to be able to find any info on that, so is that true guys?
I don't want to be buying a new card, and then grinding my teeth because a month later something faster comes out in around same price range.

Cheers guys

So far there is no such rumor. Earliest probably in late Q1 or ealry Q2 2016. But info still hard to come by now. Usually the flood of rumor will start around 3 month or so before product launching. Well usually. New AMD product has been talk about since nvidia launching 980/970 but Fury did not come out until june this year anyway :D

It's a non Ti 780 that I got.
I wouldn't mind waiting for Pascal, 2016 isn't that far now, but are there any specific dates available? Because if it's like mid 2016 then I don't know if I want to wait.
Plus, do you think that on release we will be able to buy it for the price range I'm aiming for? 980Ti costs around 500~600 GBP at the moment...

If company give specific dates half year before launching actual product then most will hold on instead of buying current offering :p

But yeah why holding back when you can enjoy the performance now? Some people like to view it in that angle. Personally i'm expecting nvidia next flagship will be 10% (maybe 20% at most) faster than current 980ti.

I'm in dilemma now... :/ I think it must be the Pascal generation that my friend was talking about...
Hmm... Since I want to buy that card for Christmas, and not earlier, I will keep the Pascal in my mind for that month or so...
I get a good performance out of my 780, but I can see that new games are getting fps hungry lately... On the other hand Pascal doesn't seem to be that far away. And I just read that Nvidia CEO stated that Pascal will be 10 times faster than Maxwell, even if just half that, I would be devastated if I bought 980Ti now and those numbers are real xD
I think I'm going to hold off for now, wait for Pascal, then compare prices and performances, and then I will decide if I want 980Ti or the new platform.

Thanks for your input guys!

That 10 times performance was about compute. Not actually about raw power. He combine half precision, single precision and double precision together and voila he suddenly got that 10 times increase in compute performance. But it will be interesting for sure. Pascal will be on new node and nvidia will use HBM for the first time as well. For me there is a lot of question about pascal lingering in my mind. The only unfortunate thing is we don't know when Pascal will be here. The rumor was talking about late Q1 but it seems too optimistic. Before this the expectation for Pascal was about late 2016 but then there were talk about nvidia has tape out new chip from TSMC few months back.
