Cpu hanging, hangs a lot after changing motherboard..

cpu hangs while playing games and watching movies. i changed my mother board recently, i can play for a while before it hangs sometimes for long sometimes even while i watch movies. could it be a virus problem or hardware compatibility problem, i have bitdefender installed on my pc b/w.

It's very important especially if there was a change to the motherboard chipset model.

no i didn't is that important?
plus im thinking my processor could be damaged too. can it be damaged and still running..?

my previous motherboard was an AsRrock z77 extreme 6

You went from an Intel Z77 chipset to an Intel H61 chipset.

It would be wise to do a fresh re-install of the Operating System. I know it's painful but not doing it is what's causing your problems.
