Hello everyone,

I am currently building my first gaming PC and I am set on purchasing the MSI R9 390 or the Sapphire Nitro Tri-X R9 390.

The MSI is currently CN$ 400 whereas the Sapphire is CN$ 425 (after tax ~ $460).

Should I grab the MSI since it is off for $50 on newegg or grab the Sapphire or wait for Black Friday to see if an even better deal for the sapphire comes out since it has obviously superior cooling? Or should I look into Asus as well and once again wait for the Black Friday deals?

Thanks a lot in advance!

I don't have a 390 but my comment is on the strix, I've heard it's a bad card and to stay away. But like I've said, that's just what I've heard.

Update: The Sapphire is a good card, I'd wait for a deal unless it's on sale or something now and the price might go back up even higher.

I'd go with the MSI. I mean, good saving and I don't own either but, I think the Sapphire is quieter but I don't really care about that. Cooling wise I think you'll be fine with MSI even if you're maxing it out.

Why the MSI over the Sapphire? I am by no means an expert and fairly new to PC building, but I saw reviews that the sapphire has better cooling due to 3 fans. So why would you recommend the MSI instead?

Would you buy it at its current price or you think there MIGHT be a better deal on BF/CM (and hopefully not a worse price) since the cards are fairly new?

As long as I wasn't stretching my budget to do it.

The only issues I have heard of with the 390 and 390 Strix cards is they are a bit noisy but thats based on a few reviews I've read.
