Hello all,

Hello all,

I've got a computer that probably should fit me just fine, but it's been 4 years and I want a new one. I think the 2gb card is starting to wear out a little too, no performance issue, but I can't multi task as much as I've been trying to (lol) lately. Plus this should make a great gaming rig for the soon to be wife, so I can upgrade!

My budget is around 1500-1600$ USD. I don't really play too many graphic intensive games, but that doesn't mean I wont. I like mmo's mostly. I do have a few questions, Black Friday is only 11 days away, should I wait till then for some good deals? I've never purchased a computer close to BF, so not sure if there are good deals or not. Apparently also this 980 Ti card is the best thing since sliced bread. I've always had High end cards, but never ultra high as spending more than 400$ for a single part seems excessive, but screw it!

Not sure if there is a point in going away from Hazwell for Skylake, or if they're virtually almost the same? I've got mouse/keyboard, I'll keep one of my two monitors and probably get a 2nd, which makes my budget a bit crappier I guess.

Is gaming your primary focus here? You jump around and say you multitask and don't play graphic intense games yet want a 980Ti?

And what resolution is your monitor? And what is your current card? And I'd argue that the best thing since sliced bread is unsliced bread. It just tastes more moist that way.

Just to clarify

1.) Does your budget include that additional monitor(assuming 1080p meaning 3840x1080)?

2.) Does your budget include OS or anything slightly additional like a card reader or wireless adapter?

3.) Do you frequent any other tasks, like video production or utilize virtual machines? The list goes on

And I personally find that prices in general on hardware tend to remain the same on black friday and cyber monday. However, you can often find a few combo deals at those times(and just about anytime, so nothing special)

I don't think you should sacrifice quality components just to be able to afford the 980ti.

Here's what it would cost you to build a rig that will do what you're asking it to do:

There will absolutely be components on sale for Black Friday and it's definitely worth considering waiting until Black Friday and Cyber Monday to purchase your components to get the best bang for your buck. If the prices drop enough on those or comparable parts, get the 980ti because despite the cost depreciating immediately it will cost you a significant investment to replace that part to upgrade from a 980 to a 980ti or other future gen version of it. Your next component to upgrade if pricing allows would be either CPU (i7-6700k) or monitor (higher refresh rate or larger display).

I already have a new copy of Win7 so no sweat on the OS. The monitor can or can't fit in the budget, if it's still reasonable I can go above the budget, I guess...

2. I don't need any wireless adapter/extra cards.

3. No sir, I use the other monitor for streams+Websites.

Gaming is the primary focus, as you can easily stream and browse websites on a Commodore :D

This monitor seems like a pretty obvious choice, I'm not spending over 250$ for one that's for sure. http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-XL2411Z-Monitor-Supported-seamless/dp/B00ITORITU?tag=girgammal-20

Additionally this one looks solid for a little cheaper, but apparently the BENQ is a lot better if the price is close. http://www.amazon.com/VG248QE-1920x1080-DisplayPort-Ergonomic-Back-lit/dp/B00B2HH7G0?tag=girgammal-20

@Game Junky -- Duly noted. Thanks for the BF Advice. I have a 2500K right now, never even considering OCing it. I don't see the point in getting a OCing (K) processor. I mean, I did it the first time derp, lol....I guess it's no harm in future proofing, but I doubt I'd ever be able to tell the difference between 4K and not 4k as I can't tell the difference between DVD and Blu-ray. :X--- This computer has lasted me 4 years, and I figured I'd upgrade every 2 as that's what I previously did, so this time I kind of want to go more all out than I have in the past because it's starting to seem like it lasts longer.
--Very nice list btw sir!
