Hey all, I've been thinking about getting another GTX970 to do SLI, and was wandering if my PSU will cover it.

I currently have CoolerMaster V650W Semi-modular 80+ GOLD PSU.

I have searched and found that I would need 750W at least, but just to be sure I'm posting this.

Also I have a Intel Core i5 4590, it shouldn't bottleneck; right?

Would be glad if someone helped! :)

While there are certainly a variety of things which contribute to power requirements, in general:

i5 CPU - 80w
970 GTX - 160w (approx) x 2 = 320
motherboard - 75w
HDD/SSSD/Fans - 50w

Approx total system load - 525w. Add in some headroom and a 700-750w PSU is just about right.

Conservatively a 700 watt tier 1 or 2 power supply is perfectly sufficient for two GTX 970's in SLI. But if I were in your position, I'd get the EVGA G2 850. Why 850 watts you may ask? Because it would give you the option of upgrading to two GTX 980 Ti's in SLI in the future. Please check out the resources below.

eVGA products are pretty hard to get in my country so I'm going to be sticking with Cooler Master I think.

Cooler Master VS series is in tier 2, so I'll probably get the 750w one I think.

Thanks for your help people! :D
