Asrock Z170 Extreme4, Skylake i5-6500 6M, G,Skill DDR4 running Windows 7 Ultimate.

Computer works flawless except when I run WEI it will not complete.

Does any one have this same issue with similar set-up?

Personally I don't care if WEI runs or not but this is for a family member and I am sure they will want to see WEI score.

Thanks in advance,

Not solved.

I am thinking along the lines that bios instructions that enable aero to run without a WEI score, (which it does) creates a conflict. Something tells windows 10 that the PC has compatible hardware to support Aero glass effects. Windows 7 requires WEI to run for Aero. Windows 10 gets instructions from where? The Motherboard?

Someone jump in who is running Windows7 on a Z170 Motherboard. I am curious to see if anyone else has the same issue.

Thanks

aero depends on your gpu and its driver if its not good enough to run aero it cant ?? don't matter if its a z170 or a z58 or a am2

look over the faq here

try what this guy said worked for him ?

I must ask if that win 7 ultimate is a retail disk copy or a download or legal copy ??

looking here 7 is supported os so there should be no issue there ??

notice how display driver is common ??

I googled this around and worded it several different way to see if anyone has been complaining about this with skylake - cant find the first one - you know they will be gripping about it somewhere in a tech forum

Not true.
WEI scores currently range from 1 to 7.9. Your computer is rated with an overall score, called the base score, and with subscores for each of five individual hardware components: processor, memory, graphics, gaming graphics, and primary hard disk. The base score is determined from the lowest of the five subscores, because your computer's performance is limited by its slowest or least-powerful hardware component.
All connected to "MotherBoard"

I am looking for a reply from someone that is running the same set-up.

you showed there it a xml issue and what is said on that to resolve - 'you should give the whole story her and not part of it and start another thread on another part of the issue if this was a major issue seeing lots of folks run wei the web forums would be full of posts on this by now with skylake and 7 . and from the links I provided in your other post you can see it can happen with non skylake builds as well

now read 3ed bullet

•Identify if your video card doesn’t support the Aero required settings, color depth, or does not have sufficient memory to support some Aero effects

Requirements for Windows 7 Aero Themes:
The minimum system requirements are:
DirectX9 graphics card
PC with 1Ghz and 1GB RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium or better
WDDM driver [ look a driver required ]

so you may want to look over your os install or a hard drive issue had corrupted the xml

sounds like you downloaded a copy of windows form who knows where 7 ultimate [oem] has not been sold In near a year from places like newegg . and the full retail copys longer then that
