Instead of using a hard disk drive (spinning metal disk with motor and actuator with a laser that reads off spinning disk), get a SSD (solid state drive), SSD are based on non-volatile flash memory that has no moving or mechanical parts.

The advantages are considerately faster performance (windows loading, game loading, faster booting), zero noise and less heat production and lower power requirements, the only disadvantage is that SSD's are slightly more expensive, 30-40$ more.

SSD's make hard disks completely obsolete, no more RPM'S, no more waiting for the disk to start spinning and having to listen to a droning sound, a must have for any kind of build, unless you need massive amounts of storage for cheap $$.

SSD's use SATA interface, any new motherboard today supports SATA, you should have no problems with your motherboard, there are a variety of SSD's you can get, slower ones, faster ones, the fast ones could cost you 500$+, a regular one can cost 100$ -/+, even an average SSD will be a lot faster than a hard disk.

Some people get a 250Gb SSD for gaming applications and get a 1 or 2 TB hard drive disk for storage purposes to save money, a 1TB SSD can cost around 400$
