So my rm550 has one pcie that splits into two 6pcie. My father told me it would be better to use a molex to 6 pin in additional to just one pcie that comes from the split one. My GPU is sapphire R9 280. Thank you

Yea, I would just use the given cable. I would only use molex if it's a shoddy PSU or they give you 6pin to 6pin and you need another one, but they give you the cable that has 2x6+2 so use it!

And don't forget to pick a solution when this is solved.

Also, you can always use molex if you have issue, though I don't think you will.

If you need 2x6pin for your GPU and your PSU outputs 2x6pin for PCIe, then use that. If there is no reason for an adapter don't use it.
Are you saying your 6pin PCIe splits to 2x6 VIA adapter or it just naturally out puts 2x6pin for PCIe

Yea you'll be fine, the cable I use to power my GPU is a 8 to 2x6+2pin. Yours is just lower wattage(mines an 850w). I could power power hungry cards like a 300-500w card while your PSU wouldn't be able to, so it doesn't need the connector. Your PSU wouldn't have those connectors if it couldn't use them. Unless it's a shoddy PSU, but yours isn' that bad.
