Hi guys,

I have 6700k and obviously I haven't picked up the best chip.

I am at 4.6ghz with Xmp 3000mhz with 1.355V set in adaptive, in the bios. In CPU-z the max voltage I see is 1.375.

However, in realbench and the heavy cpu processes I use, the core 2 temp gets to 86C as a max and the others sit around a max of 78C.

I run the NZXT Kraken x61 with replacement Noctua fans pretty much running at 100%.

Why are my temperatures so high at that modest overclock and what can I do (not comfortable with de lidding sorry)

Kind regards,

1.355v is plenty to push a CPU up to those temps, though your cooling should be performing better than that. 8C is a pretty large variation from core to core, though. The first thing I would check is to ensure that the pump RPM is running at its proper speed (I think 2900 RPM is correct for the pump). Second, I'd reinstall the pump on the CPU with fresh thermal paste, and when you remove it, look to see if you had a good distribution of the thermal paste with your first install (no gaps or air bubbles). From what I hear, the line method on the 6700k is the best way to go, running vertically on the CPU.
