Do I need a high end graphic card to maximize a high end CPU?

Hi,
I'm a newbie and I'm building a completely new PC for working and gaming.

After reading some tutorials on the website, I decided to go for a high end CPU (i5-6500). The price is acceptable (in my local shop ~220$) and I think it will suit my need. I've faced some games that use ridiculously high CPU load before, my current CPU can't handle that so I really want to go big this time.

But a high end graphic card is too expensive, for example GTX970 is double the price of the CPU, in my place is about 450$.
So I wonder, if I want to maximize my CPU power, do I really need a high end graphic card? Let say if I increase the game setting, will a mid range graphic card become a bottle neck in this case?

Currently I can afford a GTX750Ti. But I do hope to use my PC for a while and utilize every single power it has. So if it is needed, I can delay my build and invest more for a high end card later.

Thanks for any help.

A 750 Ti is not the best buy in the range, it's only good if you are working with a lower power system.

See how much the Radeon R7 370 or nVidia GTX 950 are for your budget, those are very solid mid range cards.

If you need something cheaper, then a Radeon R7 260X is better to get than a 750 Ti, should be cheaper and will be a better value.

Hi hang-the-9,
Thanks for your help. A GTX950 is about the same price as the 6500 CPU, I can afford it.
I've read some reviews and it sound like really good card. Some said it is the best choice before a GTX970, is it still true?
By the way, which brand do you like most? I've found Asus strix, MSI Gigabyte, Inno3d...

Yes a 950 is a good pick at this time for the price. There are not many bad brands to avoid, Asus, MSI and Gigabyte are all good, look at a good warranty and bundle if you want extra game or something, and you can pick by that. GTX 950 will be a good match for the price for your i5 CPU.
