My Win7 is corrupt and wont boot I am using a Live USB running ubuntu 14 trying to recover data but HDD wont show up under dev

My harddisk wont show under devices I seriously need data. Disk utility in Ubuntu shows drive is ok with 8 bad sectors drives name is /dev/sda1 is there a way I can copy the data to an external disk. The HDD in computer is encrypted any command I use via terminal to access shows permission denied. Any help is appreciated.

P.S. : I am very new to the linux world and hardly understand any commands

If you have any spare pc,laptop you could do it,but you would need an PSU unit (or old PSU just do a paper clip) and you would need sata to usb converter to save your data to laptop/pc and reformat it to fix corrupted windows.

"The HDD in computer is encrypted" - what kind of encryption is that? Is this the HDD where you want to restore the data from?

The easiest way to see what you can do from Linux:
# mount /dev/sda1 /mnt
This should work under any recent Linux version, on unencrypted partitions.

Since you can't boot into windows, can you put the windows 7 iso on a bootable USB drive? Rufus can help you with that. Or you can follow this guide. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/start-your-computer-from-a-windows-7-installation-disc-or-usb-flash-drive Once you've booted to windows 7 on usb you can usually repair your windows 7 installation while preserving your data.

And that encryption is doing exactly what it is designed to do. This is why you would now refer to your backup. You do have a backup, don't you?

Encrypted drive + No Backup = Not likely you'll ever see that data again
