I have an old Gateway GM5632e that I use for games such as Team Fortress 2 and Minecraft. I don't play too high end. I currently have the stock Nvidia 8500 GT, a super outdated video card (SUPER OUTDATED, like my pc). I want to upgrade to a 740 GT superclocked. Will my PC support this? My pc has a sufficent power supply and everything else. And by any chance, will my pc support the 750Ti?

P.S. I know about bottlenecking. I'm not concerned about it as I don't play high end games. I just want a good graphics card since my current one is super old and I want a good graphics card to transfer to my next PC. Please don't suggest an old graphics card if not necessary.

30 amp makes it a more realistic 400W PSU. You have more choices now :)
The reason the GTX 750 Ti has had a few old PCs that wouldn't recognize it, is because new cards today use a UEFI BIOS and older PCs still use a legacy BIOS. Sometimes they won't play nice together. I've never had an issue with any of my older boards not recognizing any modern card except one; an Intel DP45SG (also a 775 socket). It wouldn't recognize a R7-370, but runs my GTX 750 Ti, GTX 960, and GTX 970 just fine.

Still, if you want to go with the GT 740, that's your decision. But just so you know, your PSU can handle much faster cards now.

20A is pretty tiny for a real 400W PSU. Yours is more like a 300W in reality. But it is still good enough for using a GTX 750 Ti; one that does not require a 6 pin connector, that is. I'm running a GTX 750 Ti on a small 240W PSU with a 17A (+12v) rail.

Ok. Thanks. Yeah. My PC is pretty old. I do have the money to upgrade my PSU if needed. I could be wrong on my amp draw. I'll check later.
Do you think that I could run a 740 GT Superclocked dual slot GDDR5 on my PC?

A 740 GT Superclocked dual slot GDDR5 is just another dual slot card. Sure. If your PC has the room inside for the card's length. It should. But why would you want the weaker 740 over the 750 Ti? Especially when the 740 is older tech and uses slightly more power? 64W vs 60W

Ok. Thanks, dude. I'll have to find out what kind of BIOS my computer uses then.

Yeah. I am. Thanks. I'm probably just gonna get the 740 GT SC.
