System specifications

OS - Windows 8.1 professional
CPU - AMD FX8350
Ram - 16 gb Ripjaw 2400 ddr3
GPU - Asus 4gb 7850
PSU - Cooler Master GX - 750W
MB - M5A97 LE R2.0
Heat sink - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Cooling Fan+Heatsink

The machine has been well dusted out within the past month, the thermal paste on the gpu and cpu are new within 4 months. I've been monitoring temperatures on an off chance, the GPU has never gone over 50C, nor has the CPU. The Heat sink and fan for the CPU is well seated, as is the fan pair and processor on the gpu.

It doesn't happen with every game, just ones with serious power draw - See Star Citizen/Fallout 4/Elite dangerous/ and it does not do it immediately, hours can pass playing around in these games before it shats itself.

Doubtful it's the power cord, have exchanged it with all of the roommates and had them load up similar. Only thing left is either a fault in the motherboard (which is somewhat unlikely) or the power supply has something wonky going on with one of it's rails.

Any suggestions folks?

Does your PC power OFF, and stay off? or does it just restart?

Shutting down usually suggests a hardware problem. The most common one is an weak or cheap PSU - which you do not have. If anything is overclocked, then it can draw more power than usual.

Try re-seating the cables (unplug, plug back in) between your psu and motherboard. Same for PSU gpu.

If that fails, try running with a different power supply -- you said it has something wonky with one of the rails.

Powers off and stays off, outside of the little led on the GPU remaining on. No overclocking, nothing I do needs it. Already reseated the cables first time this came up as well as changed the rails they were running off of.

PSU is the oldest component in this build, might be something dying there. Will see if the flatmate will let me hijack his corsair 850w gold for some testing when he heads out of state for thanksgiving. May also pop open the psu and prod it with a voltmeter to see if something went kaptuski.
