hello ive recently, as of today started experiencing the next problem, after more than 6 months of playing on my computer, being able to run all games like dragon age inquisition, DMC 5, Battlefield 4, Far Cry 4, Fall out 4, well u get the idea, all at high settings without a problem,

today while i was playing ffxiv : heavensward, i experienced screen flickering in different colors and got the "Nvidia display/kernel mode driver has stopped working and recovered succesfully"
message u can imagine my frustration as ive had the rigged for so long and havent experience any problems, so I opened up my cpu and did a detailed clean of my rig, even the gpu cleaning off al dust in case it was an overheating problem, i cleaned out everything. Afterards i started it up again everything ran fine when i browse or look at movies etc, but when i start running any game thats "high end" well not even high end a simple MMO like ffxiv gave me this error message again even after the clean up, and when i started the game again it just freezes and crashes my display, i learned that it was only the display cause i was in TS and could still hear people talking, so im assuming that TS was still running.

Im desperate here as this is my first time ive had this problem with my GPU or PSU

My GPUis an ASUS VS247 on NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 3gb SC
RAM 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 668MHz (9-9-9-24)
PRocessor Intel Core i7 2600K @ 3.40GHz
PSU is a CORSAIR HX850 850wattz

as ive stated before this problem just happened till today

any ideas what it can be? is it hardware or software problem
idk if its a hardware problem my GPU and PSU are not even a year old yet

I used to get this heaps with my gtx 770 OC , always when the card got too hot. i used a temp monitor that read the temps of the gpu, gpu memory, gpu vrm. As temps got high in the mem/vrm software failed. turning up gpu fans above 80% stopped it. or turning down the cards oc down to reference gpu settings stopped it also, either one. conclusion was temps as cause. Now i have another pc but using same 770, the case has hi flow fans up front and no obstructions, allows fans to cool gpu nicely and never has this happened again without the gpu fan/oc tweaks. And yes gpu temps seemed not too bad when it did this, so believe its the affect on gpu mem/vrm

The factories really pushed their overclocks to the edge of stability and cooling must be great

My factory overclocked GTS250 also have artifact problem once the temperature reached 80c. After playing around with the clock a bit it seems the shader clock being too high (factory setting) causing black artifact to appear once temperature reach 80c. After downclocking the shader clock to reference clock black artifact no longer appear in my games even if the temperature exceed 80c.
