Looking to build a new PC, Ill be Gaming on occasion but mainly doing a lot of Premiere Pro Video Rendering and I already know the i7 is better but how much better? $146 difference Better? and before you ask. I already tried to do a i7 4790k Build list on Amazon and it didn't come out much cheaper so I would prefer to stay with Skylake. Also if it's not too much to ask, what Z170 Micro ATX Motherboard do you recommend for under $200? I was debating the EVGA Z170 Micro but have read some bad reviews. Thanks.

This might help, its Haswell not Skylake but the numbers should give you a rough idea.

These guys go in to it pretty deep on core usage

As for motherboard, what features are you looking for? I generally stick to Asus and Gigabyte since their build quality tends to be pretty predictable.

Thanks, Regarding Motherboard, Just the standard USB 3, Display Port, Etc..

http://www.maximumpc.com/intel-skylake-review/ This one has premiere but it's cs6 which shouldn't be different. I thought they had it in the tom's review, they usually do but only had ps, ai, id and media encoder. That's around 25% better but it usually is around 20% better with ht. Skylake also sees better render times vs haswell for premiere which is good considering you can get builds for a similar price.

Take a look at the GA-Z170MX-Gaming 5, its around $149. Plenty of expansion options for SLI if you intend to go that way, M.2 PCIe NVMe support which I'm sure Premiere will love, the higher grade Realtek 1150 audio, USB 3.1 A & C types and a Killer E2200. I prefer Intel Nics but a lot of gamers swear by the Killer stuff.

It doesn't have a display port, however if you're going to be gaming you'll be using a separate video card for that anyway.

Take a second look at the EVGA you were looking at, currently EVGA doesnt have a micro ATX board in the Z170 series. They have an Extended ATX, ATX and Mini-ITX. Likely you were looking at the Mini-ITX which would have had less RAM supported and only one PCIe slot. It does have a Display port but again, that's not really needed if you're going to be throwing a gaming card in to the computer.
