I wanna get a Gelid pwm y-cable(2x 4pin to 1x 4pin) but I'm wondering if I'll be able to connect 3 pin fans. What I want to do is connect 2x 3pin case fans into the 2x 4pins on the y-cable, then plug the 4pin into a 4pin header on my motherboard. Can I do this, and if so will my 2x case fans now be controlled as pwm?

The Y-Cable

Solution
It will work just fine.
Most motherboards can control 3 or 4 pin fans.
But it will not be PWM as they are not PWM fans. It will control them by dropping voltage to a lower value.
Depends on the motherboard.
But most newer boards will controll 3 or 4 pin fans just fine.
Some older oem boards did not have good fan control but if you board is only a few years old it should control them without a problem
If you post your motherboard model I can give you an exact answer.
