So I ordered some high speed ram last week. It came in today so I threw it in my rig and enabled xmp ect.

I wanted to see how it performed so I got pass mark test program. Did ram test , was pleased with the results. I said what the hey and ran the full system test and was honestly shocked at how poorly my pny xlr8 240 gb ssd performed. I thought maybe it was a fluke, ran test again, same results. Then I found a different test that shows read and write speeds. It took very long to complete and the result was 440mbps read, 5mbps write.

Apparently all my sata ports are 6gbps, also the settings in bios are correct. Chrystal disk program said I have 63%health left. I've only had this ssd for a year and a half. I've never even filled it once. It is the system drive, but only stuff I put on it is windows, my programs and whatever games I'm playing. I have other hdds for movies music ect.

It's still under warranty, is this thing shot or what?
Before I bought this I read up on ssd lifespans ect so I was aware of how to use it without wearing it out prematurely. From the info I saw the general concensus was by the time the ssd you buy today (18 months ago) wears out a 1tb ssd will cost like 100$. Guess that was a lie.

I'm just trying to hear what others have to say before I rma this thing.

The thing that sux is I just started playing fallout 4 and it's a huge download. If I rma this one I'm most likely going to have to buy a different one before I send this one in bc I'll be damn ed if I every use a regular hdd as a system drive again, plus the load times are long in F4 as it is I can only imagine playing on regular hdd. You'd have to set an alarm clock.

Idk I'm anxious to hear what everyone has to say.

I guess the good news is that it hasn't completely capped the bed yet so hopefully I can limp it along until I can scoop up a cheap black Friday deal

Upon further investigation, using the guide provided apparently windows 8.1 has a bug where it will defragment the ssd on accident? I looked at the event log and it's only happened like 20 times in the past year and a half. So I've heard it's bad for a ssd to be defrag so I'd assume it's jacked.
