The fastest an FX processor will support in dual channel mode (two matched modules) without overclocking is DDR3-1866. Memory's pretty cheap now - I'd go ahead and get 16 GB.

The RJ X should be fine, but yes the Savage are faster and the 2x8GB would be a better pick, less stress on the MC than 4 sticks.
