Hi if i needed 1tb i would go directly to WD Blue that i can get for 48€ but i need 2TB and there's not Blue so i have to choose between:
-WD Green 2TB 72€
-WD Blue 1TB x2 96€

i have read a lot between the differences but in real life usage i am concerned about the fact that green uses to stop when not used, so since i will have an ssd with SO and HDD would have movie and documents, how is this working?
i mean, do you notice slowness when open file after period of unused?

Hey there, framazzi.

Basically both options are viable, depending on your personal preference. The WD Green drive is created exactly for the purpose of being used as a secondary storage drive, so you should have no problem using media files and documents. The thing you are referring to is called "idle mode". The WD Green drive enters idle mode after not being accessed for some time. This is to make it more energy efficient and conserve power.
On the other hand having 2 separate HDDs has always been a more secure option compared to having all your data on one hard drive, so it's up to you and your personal preference.

I'd like to mention one more thing . The WD Green drive line now becomes a part of the WD Blue drive's family, so you'll end up with the option of WD Blue drives for general usage and secondary storage. Here's a bit more info on the changes that are taking place: Green to Blue details and Same Drive, New Family.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any questions whatsoever.
