Wanting to buy this gtx 960 card that says to have 400w. Will my allied 500w psu handle it? Looking on the side of the psu it says combined rating is 480w.

Requirements

Minimum of a 400 Watt power supply.

Total Power Draw : 128 Watts

thing is if the psu is of any quality and built to be used with todays cards ? like has it all the proper leads to hook up to a card or are you going to need a crazy adaptor to do so ??

don't know abou allied psu's bit it don't sound to mainstream or a known quality build brand ?? for all I know it claims to be a 500w but maybe just barely abvle to hold to a 300w spec???

like this one ??

that looks like a cheap get by oem like you get from a low cost hp or gateway [I would not trust it ]

You'll want to upgrade your PSU before running a premium card.

Review of the Allied 500 from Johnny Guru, it literally blew up under load: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story4&reid=65

I recommend getting a solid PSU with the correct PCIe 6-pin connector that the EVGA GeForce GTX 960 Superclocked Gaming 2GB GDDR5 requires. If you're in the US this would be a very good PSU to consider for a great price:

Power Supply: XFX TS 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply ($31.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $31.99
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
