I built my PC almost two years ago and since it was built I just cannot return to the consoles. My PS4 spends 90% of its time standing by. My 360 spends even more of its time like that. When I do play I find myself thinking what is this (not so much with the PS4, but the PS4 sounds like it's having a stroke and gets so so hot). Personally I find the 8th gen consoles pretty poor on the whole which is why I considered and ultimately built my PC. I don't know how I add a poll o_O

I console game about as much as you, but there is a place for it. I do not find it as fun, but I treat it more like watching a movie on PS4. Games like The Last of Us are more for the story line for me than the actual game play.

I brought a xbox one, and I could count on one hand how much I've used it. I don't seem why I bothered with it considering I have 100's of games on my PC. I play my ps3 more than my xbox one purely for skate 3 aha! what a classic!

Sometimes, with games like Gears of War, Unfortunately I have to relocate back to consoles

If you're not short on money you can afford both. PC is my primary platform but I also own a PS4 and Xbox One. I play Call of Duty on PS4 with my old college roomates I don't get to see anymore since we graduated and moved in separate directions.

There are the obvious exclusives like Halo, Gears of War, Uncharted, Forza, and The Last of Us. I played Until Dawn on Halloween on PS4 and loved it. I also put over 100 hours into Destiny on Xbox One and I have been getting a kick out of Guitar Hero Live lately too.

I have a nice gaming PC but I'm not a PC master race snob. Sure I get most of my multiplatform games on PC but if a game is fun I will play it regardless of what platform it's on.

I just quickly googled snob to get the definition. Here it is...

Snob: Noun
"a person who believes that their tastes in a particular area are superior to those of other people."

"a person with an exaggerated respect for high social position or wealth who seeks to associate with social superiors and dislikes people or activities regarded as lower-class."

Refusing to play good games on console just because the hardware isn't as good as PC fits the notion of a PC master race snob pretty nicely.

Again, I have a pretty good gaming PC listed in my signature and if a game is multiplatform that's where I prefer to play it. I'm not above playing some Destiny, Uncharted, Halo, Mario Maker, and Smash Bros. though. I have a PS4 and Xbox One. I don't own a Wii U myself but I have had some great times with that platform at a friends house.

@Speed Demon

You are stretching the meaning of snob to fit your idea.

A snob is someone for example who enjoys a specific expensive wine, but it has been proven through blind taste testing that a much cheaper wine offers much better taste and benefits, than that person is a snob, because his opinions over ride what the majority is.

In this case, the majority of people agree that computer hardware is better to consoles. So if you are a person who enjoys the nice hardware in a PC you are just an average person, not a snob. A snob would say in order to game, you need an X99 platform with 32GB of ram and GTX 980TI's in SLI to run games @ 1080p.

It all depends on what game I am going hard on at the time. I have been playing Halo since I was 12 or 13 so I will probably always have an Xbox in the house. Since I bought my ASUS I haven't really played my 360 or XboxOne much at all.

I spend a lot of time playing League of Legends since my buddy got me into it about a year ago.

He brings up an interesting point about the "PC Master Race snob." They do exist and think for some reason that spending $750+ on a PC build makes them superior to people who play on a console.

Of course you can say that your hardware is better, but why does that make you a "master race"? By all accounts, consoles have been very successful and have been around nearly as long as the home-built gaming PC. It's a matter of preference and experience. Not everyone has the knowledge/experience/time/money to build their own machine. So there is something quite appealing about buying a machine dedicated to games that already has the hardware you need integrated and ONE VoIP for chatting (you know, instead of using 6 different ones: Skype, Curse, TeamSpeak, Discord etc). Am I saying Consoles are perfect? Of course not. But the moniker of the "PC Master Race" snob is as real as it is unwarranted.

Actually I posted the real definition of the word snob already. There is nothing in the definition about proof, blind testing, majorities, or a less expensive product being equal or better.

I posted the actual definition. You made up your own. Which one of us is the one stretching the meaning of the word to fit our own ideas?

Look, there is nothing wrong with preferring a higher quality in various areas of life. People who refer to Xbox One gamers as "console peasants" are PC master race snobs. I'm not saying anyone here has done that but you know those people exist. I'm a snob when it comes to beer. I want good micro-brew beer and I would prefer not to drink something like Bud Light even if it was offered for free.

I think people are getting bent out of shape over a little comment that was not meant to be an insult to anyone here. I said that I am not a PC master race snob and I am happy to play good games no matter which platform they are on even if it isn't as good as my gaming PC. Just because a game like Destiny didn't make it to PC doesn't make it not worth playing in my opinion.

Refusing to play console exclusive games you would otherwise enjoy because you don't think the hardware is good enough inherently makes you a PC gaming snob. That doesn't have to be a bad thing. I think we are all snobs when it comes to certain things in life. I mentioned that I'm a beer snob. Just own it.

Snob: Noun
"a person who believes that their tastes in a particular area are superior to those of other people."

Thinking your ideas are superior to those of others is the main point. If you fit in a norm, you do not think your opinion is better than others, you have the same opinion as others. The popular opinion does not make you a snob.

To be a snob you have to be different than normal thinking.

But yes it is all relative. If you are in a group of poverty stricken people, everything you do will make you seem like a snob.

There are millions of console gamers though. It's not like PC gaming necessarily is the norm. The PS3 and 360 each sold over 80 million consoles and the PS4 and Xbox One are both on pace to outsell their previous generation hardware.

On top of that is the fact that AAA multiplatform games typically sell much better on console. For example Fallout 4 sold 12 million units to retailers at launch. Those weren't all sold through to customers but it gives you a relative idea of how many copies were sold. The estimated number of people who have the game activated on Steam (everyone who doesn't have a pirated version of the game) at that time was 1.2 million.

Fallout is a franchise that does very well on PC but the console sales numbers easily dwarf it. The same could be said about many other AAA multiplatform games like GTA V. The truth is that if a game isn't exclusive to PC it probably sold better on console. How can PC be the norm then?

You make it sound like everyone has a high end PC that can outperform consoles. In reality there might be more people who play games on PC but that is counting all games, not just AAA releases. That is also counting people who are playing on Intel and AMD integrated graphics.

I think you're missing the point here. Which kind of machine has better graphics is NOT what's in question.

I spend 1:30 to 2 hours in the gym on weights 4-5 days a week I haven't drank alcohol eaten bacon, sausages, chippies or anything at all processed ( to my knowledge ) for the last 3 years and I'm 19 at 5'9 198lbs ( light bones and organs ) I'm a massively disgustingly vanity snob BUT I have a secret love for hardware and computers that only my girl friend knows about... Now I wouldn't go round bitching to console gamers saying how much better it is what I would do is secretly laugh at my friends on xbox one and ps4's while I'm playing a much much better console than they are and just enjoy the fact its powerful and I built it all... that's most pc gamers I know for the last part the pc gamers that go on an on like 10 year olds are MASSIVE nerds who I never associate with haha
